What is the A Team?
The A Team is a 1 to 3 credit class that also counts as an internship, which can be really helpful for business majors who need two internships to graduate. It is a class where you will be reached out to about, and not a class you can just join like the others. Throughout this class you will be put into groups and given a business/company to work with and will have to work through different objectives that they give you. This is a real life thing and not just work that won’t be taken into consideration. There is a possibility that your work will be used throughout that business.
What have I learned?
Most people don’t enjoy the idea of working in groups for class projects. Why? Because a lot of the time all of the work gets thrown onto one person to do, making it miserable for that individual. Something I have learned throughout this semester from this class is how important it is to know how to work with a group because you all will rely heavily on one another. Yes, everyone will be assigned different parts of projects but you still have to be available to help bounce ideas off one another, not clash, and not procrastinate your work to the point where other group members are having to do it all by themselves. After college I plan on doing real estate and plan on having a team of my own eventually. If I don’t know how to work with a group now then in the future it will hurt myself and cause bigger issues than what it did in college, as it will be my job.
How will it help me in the future?
Networking
One of the most beneficial things about working with other businesses/companies for a class is almost just like having an internship! It is a great way to put yourself out there and be recognized by important people which will help you after college. Being able to network with others while taking a class is a huge plus. I have gained so many new connections throughout my time in this class!
Group Settings
Going into this semester for this class, I had heard that it was difficult and time consuming but I couldn't see that with it only being a class that is once a week. Now that we are about 11 weeks into it all, I would have to agree with what others have said. There is so much that has to go into the class that is behind the scenes and not what everyone sees happening. Being able to stay in contact with five or more different connections with individuals is a task, whether you're the one reaching out to them or just even remembering what information is coming from who. Being able to manage your time and information is key and I believe has gotten stronger for me throughout this semester.
